Tai Chi Beginners
Free taster sessions for new beginners are held each September in Broadway and the classes following are dedicated to beginners. At other times and in other groups new students are welcome to come along for a trail session or to join in the regular class.
Each group has practitioners of varying degrees of skill and experience and everyone works at their own level and pace. As a beginner you can expect to progress more quickly in a mixed ability group as you will benefit from the experience of those around you.
The foundation exercises of 'Silk Reeling' are easy to learn and these techniques are continually practiced and refined by students of all levels.
The 19 Form, a sequence of movements, was devised by Grandmaster Chen Xiaowang, as an introductory form, whilst retaining many of the important elements to develop one's skill. To learn the sequences can be an interesting and enjoyable challenge. We focus on small sections each week to learn the choreography and refine the movements. There are also resources available to assist if you wish but many people prefer to learn just by following the teacher and watching the more experienced members in the group.
